The 7 questions
- What do you sell?
- Who buys it, and why from you?
- Where do you sell: market, shop, WhatsApp, online?
- How much does one unit cost you, and how much do you sell it for?
- How many must you sell each month to cover rent, transport and your own salary?
- How do customers hear about you: WhatsApp status, TikTok, word of mouth?
- What do you need to start, and where does that money come from?
The break-even number
Monthly fixed costs ÷ profit per unit = units to sell each month. Example: 60,000 F of costs ÷ 2,000 F profit per piece = 30 pieces per month, or one per day.
Grow step by step
- Keep business money and personal money separate (a separate MoMo account helps).
- Write every sale and every expense, even small ones.
- Reinvest part of the profit before buying luxury.
- Register your business with the tax office when it grows: your NIU is free online (see Cameroon info → NIU).
